Why looking the best you can will transform your self-respect

“Looking good isn’t self-importance; it’s self-respect.” — Charles Hix

For whatever reason, many people in this modern age decided it was a good thing to allow their outward appearance to transform into absolute turd.

Then they wonder why they don’t feel so great about themselves.

Yes, this can be a subjective area, but let’s be real — a lot of what makes for appealing human aesthetics is objective.

We walk around in sweatpants and dirty shoes with exposed bellies hanging over and dirty hair and wonder why few people respect us. Get a grip.

Tending to your outer appearance right down to the smallest details isn’t ‘shallow.’

It’s not ‘superficial.’

It’s vital.

It reflects your inner state like an outwardly projecting mirror. It feeds our self-image too.

The loop of behaviour feeding identity is a powerful concept that aligns with outward appearance.

When we look like we care for ourselves, both in how we dress and treat our physical bodies, we will care, and others will care too. That’s human nature.

When you see someone dressed well, what does that do to your perception of them?
