We all have this shared experience

And knowing this makes it all so much easier

I used to think writing was a rather unforgiving experience.

It could often feel isolating.

And I’d wonder whether my distaste for working in teams was irrational.

But, as I near the completion of my latest book (The Never-Retired Writer), I had a realisation.

I remembered all those times when I felt undervalued as a writer.

Hours put into posts that no one seemed to care for.

Literally hundreds of pieces of content that flopped.

But here I am, about to finish my ninth book, after a string of books that people continue to thank me for writing.

The realisation was this:

Everyone, no matter what they choose to pursue in life, goes through a shared experience.

None of us are immune.

We all need to go through moments of feeling undervalued and underappreciated if we want anything worth pursuing.

It could be your ideal partner.

It could be your dream job or your preferred income.

If we rarely come face-to-face with this discomfort, we’re probably playing it too
