Here’s how to quickly gain an unfair advantage in your work
People glamorise a hatred for hard work.
They say ‘hustle culture’ is a problem.
But what is ‘hustle’ anyway?
When I was young, I actively avoided work because in my mind, I associated it with pain.
Homework was something other people handed to me to make my life worse.
It was a tick to check off, and it felt like a burden.
Unless it was art.
I loved to work on art assignments. I was good at it. I enjoyed it, and I looked forward to showing the class my creations.
Memorising dates in history felt like pointless hard work.
Drawing the school building felt like an excuse to have fun.
I could draw all week if they asked me to.
It occurred to me later in life that people who have an unfair advantage view their work like I viewed my art assignments.
They don’t have to work.
They GET to work.
What if you didn’t see your work as work?
What if your ‘hustle’ was just an excuse to have fun?
