Quick-hit short-term pleasures might be fun, but there’s always a price to pay.
What, never heard of a hangover?
I’ve stimulated myself with all kinds of junk that gave me a short-term, artificial high and a hollow feeling in my chest.
But I’ve also enjoyed the juicy, natural highs of other life experiences that sustain me.
Here’s what I mean:
Create something daily.
You can’t sit around watching TV, living life vicariously through a gleaming box and expect to be fulfilled. Especially if that’s your only source of release.
The real sense of joy comes not from consuming, but from creating.
Do it daily, even if it takes you five minutes, and it’s like taking a free hit from an oxygen barrel.
Find your mission.
A lot of people lack spark because they don’t know what they’re fighting for.
Yes, I said, fight. Ooh, mean and scary, huh?
Well, you won’t ever feel a burning drive in your soul until you can uncover your arch-enemy and commit yourself to fight a cause.
