Be a vibe lifter

4 min readApr 16, 2025

“The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.” — Paulo Coelho

I have been known to be quite an analytical fellow, often watching from the sidelines fascinated by human behaviour — seeing the world as a sort of real-life soap opera.

This could sometimes mean falling into judgement and over-analysis, both of myself and the people I was with, to the point that I would get quiet, stew and pout.

I’d ruminate on what it was that triggered me, and this meant I could be a miserable sod around others.

It may have felt superior to think I held the moral and intellectual advantage in getting all serious, but it lost me respect.

I was like a black hole sucking in all the energy from the room, and anyone who’s directly responsible for lowering a vibe or not outwardly particularly happy isn’t exactly going to be a celebrity.

Respected people are conscious of energy levels and do what they can to inject life into a room. They keep things light-hearted and don’t wait for someone else to do the work.

If things get heavy, they do their best to lift it up.

They actively lift the vibe, regardless of what’s going on in their lives.

You could have had the worst day, but you’d still stay upbeat later on. This can take…
