11 behaviours the book, 48 Laws of Power, teaches us about how to be more respected

Robert Greene’s ideas are about understanding the game that almost everyone’s already playing.

Once you see these patterns, you’ll spot when someone’s using them against you, and you’ll know how to earn genuine respect instead of being ‘lukewarm liked.’

1. Never outshine your superiors.

Making your boss look good is more valuable than being right.

When you make those above you feel insecure about their position, they’ll find ways to undermine you without you even noticing.

The most astute let their superiors shine while quietly building their own power base.

2. Say less than necessary.

The more you talk, the more common you appear and the more ammunition you give others.

Mystery and economy of words make people hang on to everything you say because they’re never quite sure what you’re thinking.

Silence is a power move disguised as restraint.

3. Control your emotions at all costs.

People who stay calm while others panic become the natural authority in any room.
